Now, what happens when the scale moves the other way? What happens when the
diff erences outweigh the similarities?
We get entitlement. We get leaders who spew hateful words and have enough power
and infl uence to turn their speech into policies and laws and measures to make sure the
diff erences remain heavier. � is particular brand of anger leads to something even more
dangerous: fear. And when people fi nd themselves in fear, in an attempt to get rid of all
which proves a substantial threat to our wellbeing, we tend to do things that we wouldn’t
even dare to consider otherwise.
